Week of January 2: All about BEES
January 1, 2011Bees can’t fly in the rain.
Female bees work outside gathering pollen and nectar. Male bees do all their work inside the hive.
A busy hive can make up to 2 pounds of honey in a day.
Bees like blue and purple flowers best.
Bees can tell other bees the direction and distance of pollen and nectar by the way they move their bodies – It’s called the “waggle” dance.
Bees aren’t very speedy. They can only fly about 15 miles per hour.
